13 things that do not make sense
Great article explaining what (little) we know about the 13 biggest questions in science. Here's a quick rundown:
- The placebo effect
- The horizon problem
- Ultra-energetic cosmic rays
- Belfast homeopathy results
- Dark matter
- Viking's discovery of methane on Mars
- Tetraneutrons
- The Pioneer anamoly
- Dark energy
- The Kuiper cliff
- The Wow signal
- Not-so-constant constants
- Cold fusion
Will any of these be figured out in 2006? We'll just have to see.

From Orlando Sentinel:
[Fiorenzo Facchini, a professor of evolutionary biology at the University of Bologna,] lamented that certain American “creationists” had brought the debate back to the “dogmatic” 1800s, and said their arguments weren’t science but ideology.
Amen to that. Hopefully, this will keep some IDer’s mouths shut, but I doubt it.

This is one of my favorite websites to check out some space pics: hubblesite.org
They just released one of the Orion nebula that's breathtaking. Let's see if I've figured out how to post a picture:
I just think it's so awesome that this stuff is just floating around out there.
On the site, there's many more detailed and higher resolution images.
